Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Mary Alice Pressley first became interested in dentistry after our very own Dr. Flaherty completed some minor restorative work to correct esthetic problems that she’d been self-conscious about for years. Eventually, the combination of science and art compelled her enough to set her career goal of becoming a dentist while still in middle school – and she hasn’t looked back since!
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Mary Alice Pressley graduated with her Doctor of Dental Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She was in the top of her class and even received the International Congress of Implantologists/Dentsply Implants’ Dental Predoctoral Achievement Award! Today, she is actively pursuing continuing education on sleep dentistry and SureSmile Clear Aligners to further expand her skillset. She is also a member of the American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry , and American Association of Women Dentists.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Mary Alice Pressley was born and raised in Asheville – in fact, she grew up coming to Parkview Dental! Back then she was Mary Alice Cummings (Mac!) She and her husband Willy recently married in June of 2021. She spends her free time going to the beach, practicing needlepoint, and being the fun aunt to her nephews and niece. She and her husband also recently added a Springerdoodle puppy to their family named Freddie!
